How to properly create files

In order to properly create a file for a notepad which is suitable for printing, create one file only.

1. Graphic file – with cover

INTERIOR FILE

If you choose this option, set up the product, download the template and customize it with your graphic designs. The first sheet will be the cover of your notepad. On the top side, the spine and the 2cm needed in order for the cover to be glued on the cardboard of the backing board are indicated. Do not include information or logos in this area.

1. Graphic file – without cover

For the interior, one file only shall be created. In both cases, the file of its interior shall be made on a single page: bear in mind that all the pages will look the same and you can choose whether you want to keep them blank, lined, squared or include logos, and so on. In the product page you will find the templates for the most common formats (A4 and A5), which can either be ready to use or customized.

Pay attention to punching

If, for your product, you chose the Binding with staples and punching, remember to leave at least a 2cm space at the top edge of the document if you chose top opening, or on the left side if you opted for the side opening.

Pay attention to the width of the strokes

Pay attention to the width of any lines or squares in your notepad! Let’s have a look at the minimum values guaranteed in order to print the files properly:
  • For continuous lines, the minimum width of the stroke shall be 0.5pt 20% black
  • For dotted lines, the minimum shall be 1pt 30% black
  • For dashed lines 0.5pt 50% black

Checklist

Always remember that your file has to comply with the following features that apply to every file:

  • 1:1 scale and 5mm bleed for each side
  • CMYK colour model
  • High-quality PDF
  • Images resolution: 300ppi
  • Always check the internal security margins.
